Branding and workspace settings
Set up your practice's branding, theme and workspace settings in Finye so client-facing pages, portals and emails reflect your firm.
Your workspace settings control how Finye looks and behaves for everyone in your practice, and how your firm appears to clients on the portal, pay pages and outbound emails. Getting these right early means every BAS request, engagement letter and invoice that leaves your practice carries your branding rather than a generic default. This guide walks through configuring your firm's identity, theme and core workspace options.
Before you start
Branding and workspace settings sit at the practice level, so changes apply to your whole firm rather than to an individual staff member. You will need an administrator role to edit them. Have your logo file ready (a transparent PNG works best) and know your firm's primary brand colour as a hex value if you have one.
Setting your firm's branding
Branding covers the visual identity clients see across the portal, the public pay page and email notifications. Work through these in order.
- Open Settings. From the main navigation, go to Settings, then choose the Branding section.
- Upload your logo. Add your firm's logo. This appears in the client portal header, on invoices and at the top of branded emails. Use a high-resolution file so it stays crisp on larger screens.
- Set your practice name. Confirm the display name for your firm. This is the name clients see when they receive a request notification or log in to the portal, so use the trading name your clients recognise.
- Choose your accent colour. Set your primary brand colour. Finye applies this consistently to buttons, links and highlights so your workspace and client-facing surfaces feel like an extension of your brand rather than off-the-shelf software.
- Save and preview. Save your changes, then open the client portal or send yourself a test notification to confirm the logo and colour render the way you expect.
Applying a theme to your workspace
Theming controls the look of the workspace your staff use day to day. Once you have set your accent colour, the interface picks it up across boards, work items and dashboards. A few points to keep in mind:
- Consistency matters more than novelty. A single, clear accent colour reads better than several competing ones. Finye uses your primary colour for emphasis, so pick a tone that stays legible on white content areas.
- Client-facing surfaces inherit your branding. The portal, the public pay page and engagement letters all draw on the same settings, so you only configure your identity once.
- Email branding. Outbound notifications, such as a new comment on a work item or a payment reminder, carry your logo and practice name so clients always know the message is from your firm.
Configuring core workspace settings
Beyond visual branding, your workspace settings hold the practice-wide options that shape how Finye runs for everyone. Review these as part of your initial setup.
Practice details
Confirm your firm's name, contact details and any reply-to address used on outbound email. Accurate details here mean clients can reach the right inbox when they respond to a notification.
Security
Under the Security area you can enforce multi-factor authentication for your team. When enabled, any staff member who has not yet enrolled is held at the two-factor setup step until they complete it. For an accounting practice handling client tax and financial data, turning this on is a sensible baseline control.
Team and roles
Invite your staff and assign roles so the right people can administer settings, manage clients and work on tickets. Keep administrator access limited to the people who genuinely need to change branding, billing and security settings.
Tips for a polished result
- Test from a client's view. Log in to the portal as you would expect a client to, and check that your logo, colours and practice name all appear correctly before you invite real clients.
- Mind contrast. If your brand colour is very light, it may look muted against white content. Choose a tone with enough contrast so buttons and links remain easy to read.
- Update branding when your firm rebrands. Because every client-facing surface inherits these settings, a single update to your logo and colour rolls out everywhere, from the portal to invoices.
Next steps
With your branding and workspace settings in place, your firm's identity now flows through to every client touchpoint. From here it is worth setting up the surfaces clients interact with most. See the rest of our how-to guides to configure your client portal and work item boards, and to invite your clients in once your branding is ready. If you have not yet added your team and set permissions, do that next so each staff member has the right level of access across the workspace.
